My Mid-Autumn Festival

Last weekend we celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival (sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival). This joyous festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar, which is usually around late September or early October in the Western calendar. This day was also considered a harvest festival since fruits, vegetables and grain would be harvested by this time. Families and friends gather to celebrate; eating mooncakes under the bright, full moon. Not forgetting, 'playing' with candles and lanterns!

The traditional mooncakes are made with melon seeds, lotus seeds, almonds or bean paste. The center of each cake is filled with salted egg yolk.

This year, I had a wonderful time with a few friends at Mount Faber. (Mount Faber is a hill in Singapore that embodies the beauty of nature amongst the urban sophistication of Singapore). Of course, I had taken some pics to share with you.

Beautiful paper lanterns!

Oh no, this one was burnt..

Mini fireworks!

We lighted up the whole pillar...No, we did not vandalise.. we beautified it! :p

See, I told you. Isn't this beautiful? :)

Today I have two more pieces of news to share. First of all, my work was featured in Etsy treasury again! Yay! This was one of the loveliest treasury I've seen. I love all the selections. Thank you, Tecla!

Another news... I'm sick!!! :( I'm having a blocked nose and I lost my voice. I have so much phlegm in my throat, I think I can make a BIG cup of yogurt drink with it. (Ewwww!) Ha! But don't worry, I will be good in no time. I have to be.. there are plenty of tasks waiting for me to do. Take good care everyone!~

This looks like such an unforgettable event. I definitely want to visit Singapore and come to the lantern festival before I die. So hopefully I won't die anytime soon, because I'm too broke to travel at the moment. But someday, I'll come visit my buddy. :-)

Beautiful pictures!!
We had a moon lantern festival here in Adelaide Australia, and I loved it! We had a parade of big beautiful hand made lanterns. I bought a moon cake to eat, red bean, it was interesting to try!
